English and History
Mr. Andres is a graduate of Pacific Union College with a degree in English with an emphasis in Secondary Education. He has been on the MVA staff for 19 years and enjoys interacting with students. One of his favorite things about teaching is relating student comments to the subject and discussing them in class. His aim is to help students understand the developing story of mankind through the study of history, geography, and political science. This will in turn help students develop their awareness of the world around them and their roles in it.
Miss Helms graduated from Pacific Union College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Education. She also received dual credentials, multiple subjects and single subjects, with her single subject credential in English. Mountain View Academy is her first teaching position, and she is looking forward to getting to know the students and the community.
Physical Education and Athletic Director
Mr. Hicks is a graduate of Pacific Union College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education. Mr. Hicks has been with MVA for the past 16 years. He has over 25 years of teaching experience and has worked as a 7 & 8th grade Teacher, Elementary Principal and has been a Boy's Dean at a boarding campus. His favorite part about teaching is "seeing the light bulbs come on" in the kids when they finally understand a concept he's trying to teach.

Introduction to Christianity (International)
Mr. Knecht's favorite part about teaching is helping students learn to share Jesus with others through their music. Music is a gift from God. As such, it should always be used to inspire, enable, and elevate. The goal of the music department is to provide students with the necessary skills to perform, hear, and appreciate music in the context of worship, as well as entertainment, and to make wise choices in the music they choose to hear and perform.
Living Skills and Spanish
Mrs. Knecht has been with the MVA Family since 2003. She graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences with a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages from Southern Adventist University. She spent a year at Universidad de Montemorelos (a Seventh-day Adventist University in Mexico). She has over 30 years of teaching experience and enjoys getting to know her students on an individual basis. All her classes start off with prayer requests. She loves seeing how God works in her students' lives. Mrs. Knecht's favorite part about teaching is being with the student.
Math and Robotics
Mr. Lepulu has a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Cal State Monterey Bay. He is currently working on a Masters in Education and Secondary Single Subject California Clear Credential. While working on his degrees he has tutored for Tutor Doctor and Gavilan College. Mr. Lepulu is a graduate of Mountain View Academy.
Art and English Language Development
Ms. Martinez joined the MVA Family in the fall of 2010. She graduated with her Masters of Arts in Teaching from La Sierra University and loves being with her students. She is the Director of the ESL program and helps International students transition from their country's education system to the US education system. Miss Martinez's favorite part about teaching is inspiring, empowering and transforming young lives through literature and art.
Campus Chaplain and Religion
Pastor Tim Mitchell joined the MVA faculty in the summer of 2012 after nine years as the Lead Pastor of Pacific Union College Church and contract teacher in the Religion Department. Prior to that, he served fifteen years as Senior Pastor of the Sunnyvale SDA Church, including stints on the MVA Board. His favorite part of teaching is class laughter, lightening the mood. "Joy in our work is one of the five basic human needs, and helps students receive the truth that God is not the scary, boring, irrational person some Christians make Him out to be."
Math and Science
Mr. Williams joined the MVA family in August 2010. He has his Bachelors of Education degree in Mathematics and Physics. He also holds a Master of Science degree with work in non-linear dynamics (chaos theory). He has over 30 years of experience teaching in math and physics at the high school and college levels. His favorite part about teaching is helping students learn new concepts and helping students relate those concepts to God. Mr. Williams enjoys working with young people and challenging them to do their best in all aspects of life.
